Whoo Are You?

I am Dr. Zachary Holcombe.

I grew up in Greenville NC.

I attended North Carolina State University for my undergraduate studies and then went to East Carolina where I earned my DMD. I met my wife at NC State. We have one little boy who will be two in July, and another little boy on the way. My favorite thing about being a dentist is that I get to use my hands and my head.

I also love working with people. My practice is a close-knit group. We treat our patients as family.

How will you celebrate Father’s Day?

For the past 36 years, my dad’s family has

had a tradition of going to Sunset Beach,

NC. There will be about 30 family members there.

What do you put on your pizza?

Pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers, and jalapeños. But the truth is, I never turn down any kind of pizza.

Where is the farthest place you have traveled?

In 2010 we went to London to see the Olympics. While there we visited Paris.

What was your first car?

A white, 95 Ford Explorer that had been passed down through the family.

When you were a young boy, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A paleontologist.

How do you spend lazy, summer days?

On the water whenever possible.

Do you say “fireflies” or “lightning bugs?”

Fireflies.

Who is your favorite band?

Need to Breathe.

Do you have pets?

We have a Chiweenie named Tuffy. Chiweenies are a dachshund and Chihuahua mix.

If you could have one exotic animal, what would it be?

A big tiger.

Do you believe in the Tooth Fairy?

Well, I know the Tooth Fairy still visits kids although the rate has gone up since I was

a child. Most kids now get $1.00 for each tooth!
